DrinkSmart+ is a privacy-first application designed to support awareness and informed decision making around alcohol consumption. Trust and transparency are core to how the app is designed and operated.
Information We Collect
DrinkSmart+ collects only the information necessary to provide its core features. This may include drink entries, timestamps, and session history. Users may optionally provide profile information such as weight and gender to improve estimation accuracy. With explicit user permission, date of birth may be accessed through Apple Health. Limited app usage data may be processed to support basic functionality and reliability.
What We Do Not Collect
DrinkSmart+ does not collect or store government issued identification images. We do not retain full dates of birth for identification purposes. We do not track users across apps or websites. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data for advertising or marketing. We do not use third party advertising networks.
Age Verification
DrinkSmart+ may allow a user to optionally scan a government-issued ID to help determine whether the user is 21 or older. Apple Wallet age verification is not currently available in DrinkSmart+.
When a government ID is scanned, DrinkSmart+ uses the information on the device to determine age eligibility. ID scan data is stored locally on the user’s device and is not sold or used for marketing.
When a user checks in to a participating venue, DrinkSmart+ may share a limited age-status indicator with the venue, such as whether the user appears to be 21 or older. DrinkSmart+ does not share the full government ID data with the venue through this age-status indicator.
Data Storage and Security
Most user data is stored locally on the user’s device. Optional cloud synchronization may be used to support continuity across devices. Reasonable safeguards are used to protect user data from unauthorized access.
User Control
Users remain in control of their data. Data can be deleted at any time by removing the app. Health data access can be managed through Apple Health settings. App permissions can be reviewed and revoked within iOS system settings.
Third Party Services
DrinkSmart+ relies on Apple provided services such as Apple Health and Apple Wallet. These services operate under Apple’s own privacy policies. At this time, no additional third party services collect or retain personal data on behalf of DrinkSmart+ for age verification.
Children’s Privacy
DrinkSmart+ is intended for use by adults of legal drinking age. The app is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated as features evolve. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
SMS Consent for Emergency Contacts
DrinkSmart+ is operated by AwareNow LLC. DrinkSmart+ allows a user to add an emergency contact so that safety assistance alerts can be sent if the user may need help at a checked-in venue.
When a DrinkSmart+ user adds an emergency contact, DrinkSmart+ may send that contact an opt-in SMS. The emergency contact must reply YES or START before receiving safety assistance alerts. If the emergency contact does not opt in, DrinkSmart+ will not send safety assistance alerts to that number.
Emergency contacts may reply STOP at any time to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on user activity and safety-assistance events.
SMS consent is used only for DrinkSmart+ safety assistance alerts. SMS consent is not sold, shared, rented, or used for marketing or promotional messages.
